The closet is our own personal storage space. It’s where we keep valuable items from clothes, shoes, accessories to documents and even jewelry. It is important then that we choose a closet design that suits our personal needs.
Today, you may have seen numerous styles of closets displayed at home improvement and furniture shops or on the magazines. You may have seen them as well on the internet which may have led you to consider remodeling your own closet at home or getting rid of the old one.
So what makes a closet? Basically, it has to have shelves, cabinet doors, drawers and closet rods. If possible, you have to decide on which ones you want to have for your own cabinet. You can just have shelves and closet rods or you can always combine the three sections especially if you have a lot of clothes to store and you want to easily find them.
The shelves are usually used for storing folded shirts, shorts and jogging pants while the drawers are great for keeping underwear, socks and other accessories.
For clothes that need hanging such as pants, jackets, coats and dresses, a separate space with closet rods is required. This particular space, however, can be customized according to your personal preference. No longer is a closet limited to a single rod because double hang closet rods are the trend these days.

Deciding on the best door for your closet is first determined by the kind of wardrobe you’ve got. Oftentimes you might find that you don’t need to build or install a wardrobe door whatsoever. There are numerous ways that will help choose the best doorway. When it comes to built-in closets, you’ve got two main options. Included in this are both the walk-in and reach-in closet variety. For those who have a typical walk-in wardrobe, you’ve got much more choices. Reach-in closets tend to fare best with sliding closet doors.
Walk-In Closet Door Options
Walk in closets are designed to be more generous in terms of space and are usually shaped like a U, allowing for plenty more doorway options. In some instances, a walk in wardrobe might not actually have a doorway included in the design at all. In terms of door choices, anything from a standard interior door to mirrored panels can be used.
Reach In Closets
Reach-ins are, of course, far more common than walk-ins, but not necessarily more desirable. It’s all a matter of space. From three to five ten feet wide and a little over two and a half feet deep, they’re considered quite effective and increasing space for storage throughout the home.
Choosing the right doorway depends upon how big the actual wardrobe is. Broad closets of more than a typical door width do well with sliding doors, while narrow closets make the most sense with bi-fold doors or closet doors for bedrooms and other interior entryways. Additionally, choosing sliding doors with mirrors can give the area a more open look, which is something to consider in especially cramped quarters.

Pantry cabinets have been around since the medieval times, and as history has shown, was used to house and store food. Pantries in the medieval times however were nothing like the ones that we use today. Back then a pantry was an entire room, though separate from the kitchen, which was used to store food and for various other service functions. That’s right, for almost as long as one could imagine, pantries have been used by people for storing everything from food to ammunition.
A person responsible for taking care of a pantry in the medieval times was often referred to as a pantler. This person was generally the head of the office, meaning that they were left in charge of keeping track of what was stocked and stored in these pantries as well as keeping track on what was used. There were also rooms used specifically for storing bacon and other meats, alcoholic beverages.
A butler’s pantry, which is also known as a serving pantry, is usually a utility room located adjacent to a kitchen or a wine cellar, which has tables, sinks, and counters. These types of pantries may, or may not be used for food storage. These rooms were most commonly used for cleaning and counting silver.
